It's been difficult to keep track. Like a dance-diva version of Charlie Sheen, Spears' life has been an all-too-public train wreck waiting to happen for the better part of a decade. During this time, it seemed that music was at best a tangential distraction in that life. Substance-abuse issues, man trouble and dubious parenting skills took center stage. If Britney was ever really about the music, the facade had grown thin by the time a new generation of virgin/harlot vixens had come along to claim the dance floor.
