Summary
Last year, when O'Connell and Company moved out of its longtime home in a Snyder plaza, a small but beloved theater venue was left unoccupied. But at 7 p.m. Saturday, the 99-seat Cabaret in the Square Theatre (4476 Main St.) will return to use under a new name, "The Arena," as the new home of the wacky local troupe known as ComedySportz.
The weekly improv comedy group, whose former home base was the cavernous Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda, is known for its clean, family-friendly comedy games. The troupe's performances are similar in tone and nature to ABC's "Whose Line is it Anyway?" and feature a healthy dose of audience interaction and a rigorously enforced point system that pits one team against the other in a kind of no-holds-barred comedy smackdown. The Buffalo troupe is part of the international ComedySportz franchise, which includes similar groups across the United States and in the United Kingdom and Germany.See the full content of this document
