Attorney General Candidates Bring Contrasting Messages to Buffalo

Summary


After visits to Buffalo on two successive days by both candidates for attorney general, it is now apparent that Democrat Eric T. Schneiderman and Republican Daniel M. Donovan Jr. are taking very different approaches to the job they seek.

Schneiderman, a state senator from Manhattan, made his first local appearance Tuesday since defeating four opponents in last week's Democratic primary. He spoke in front of County Hall with Erie County Comptroller Mark C. Poloncarz to emphasize his aim to continue the "sheriff of Wall Street" function of his two Democratic predecessors -- Eliot L. Spitzer and Andrew M. Cuomo.
