A growing workload from the energy industry and international clients helped Ecology & Environment nearly double its third- quarter profits, the Lancaster-based environmental services firm said Wednesday.

E&E's profits jumped by 91 percent to $1.4 million, or 34 cents per share, from $747,000, or 18 cents per share, a year ago.
