Summary
Well, we finally got done with one round of the U.S. Open. Mike Weir, the only Canadian to win a major title, has the first-round lead after an opening 64, 6-under par. Weir had a double bogey on the sixth hole (his 15th), but rallied to birdie his final two holes for 64.
I followed Phil Mickelson for his second nine today. Lefty, the People's Choice at Bethpage, shot a 69, 1-under. It could have been a 65 and put him right there with Weir.
