Summary
I ran my first 5K race the other day. It felt good to compete, even better to finish. Actually, competing is not the right word. Such an amateur could hardly be considered a threat to the other runners. This endeavor resulted from a casual conversation with a friend nine months ago. She had just finished her first 5K, and was filled with contagious enthusiasm. Already an avid walker, I was tempted, so I set out to make this a goal.
The first thing I had to do was find a running partner. This was not a requirement, just my personal preference. If I was going to endure torture, I needed company.
