Summary
Whenever the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra presents a musical in concert, it promises to be great fun. Last spring, the BPO imported two Buffalo ex-pats, Jeffry Denman and Michele Ragusa, for "The Music Man," and a crowd turned out even in a lovely summery night. This Saturday, there will be hilarity of a different sort, with the musical "Funny Girl."
With music by Jule Styne, "Funny Girl" is famous for the songs "People" and "Don't Rain on My Parade." Michele Ragusa is starring as legendary comedian Fanny Brice who grew up in the Jewish slums of New York's Lower East Side, and found stardom. While it's hard to fill the shoes of Barbra Streisand, who starred in the musical on stage and on screen, Ragusa is a Broadway veteran and should be able to give it a good shot. The leading man will be Paul Todaro, who needs no introduction to Buffalo theatergoers.See the full content of this document
