Summary
The Bisons closed the clubhouse today for a 10:30 a.m. pregame meeting, presumably to discuss the demotion of Luis Natera and to introduce newcomer Bill Masse, who's taking over that slot. Natera worked hard and you didn't hear any complaints about him. He just didn't get results and the Mets, certainly sensing a shakeup was in order in the clubhouse and some good PR might be needed, made the move yesterday.
Almost not fair, however, was the injury plagued lineup of Natera's final few days and the one manager Ken Oberkfell can let Masse watch for today's series opener against Durham. Javier Valentin (shoulder), Wily Mo Pena (back) and Mike Lamb (family illness) are all back and in the lineup and Chip Ambres, a former IL all-star acquired yesterday from Pawtucket, is starting in right field in the No. 5 hole. Quite an improvement.See the full content of this document
