Housing Plan May Need Private Funds

The Syracuse nonprofit agency whose plans for a major makeover of a run-down neighborhood here may turn to the private sector for help in salvaging the plan next year.

Alderman Jack L. Smith Jr. said this week that at a meeting in City Hall on Tuesday, officials of Housing Visions said they might consider turning to private investors, such as a local bank, to fill a $2 million funding gap that doomed their $8.5 million plan last month.
