Summary


Members of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office have been cleared of wrongdoing in events preceding the Aug. 18 suicide of then-Sheriff Dennis J. John on the Allegany Territory of the Seneca Nation of Indians.

Current Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb received the results of the investigation Thursday. It was conducted by Wyoming County District Attorney Gerald L. Stout, who was named special prosecutor.
