Temperatures were mild and the sun was out but gusting winds created challenging conditions at Audubon Golf Course on Saturday afternoon as the University at Buffalo hosted the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships.

With that in mind, Leonard Korir had a plan. The senior from Iona was going to stay with the pack for much of the race, then kick it into high gear. He executed perfectly and won the individual regional title for the second straight year, completing the 10K course in 31 minutes, 10.4 seconds
