Summary
One of the most interesting art galleries featuring Buffalo artists, as it turns out, isn't even in Buffalo. It's down near the southern border of New York State, tucked inside the Olean Public Library (134 N. 2nd St., Olean). In recent months, the library's gallery has hosted exhibitions featuring work by Buffalo artists J- M Reed, Elizabeth Switzer, Tim Roby, Katie Sehr and others.
The latest Buffalo artist to make her way down to the respected Olean space is none other than Jax Deluca, a well-known local media, interactive and installation artist who spends her days working for the Squeaky Wheel Media Arts Center. The exhibition, titled "Self-Defense Mechanisms," is an interactive show "specifically designed to dissolve your fears, rid yourself of excess baggage, seek important answers, acquire a lucky talisman, and detoxify your soul." If that seems just the slightest bit vague, that's part of the intent of Deluca's recent work, which can be playful in nature and which reveals its secrets only upon close inspection.See the full content of this document
