Summary
Shawn Nelson's disappointing summer took a turn for the worse Friday when the NFL announced he was suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Nelson, a fourth-round draft pick in 2009, will be forced to sit out the first four weeks of the regular season and will lose his pay for those weeks. His suspension will begin Sept. 4 and will continue to Oct. 4, the day after the Bills' game against the New York Jets. He will be eligible to play in the fifth game of the season, against Jacksonville. Nelson can practice and play in preseason games up until his suspension starts.See the full content of this document
