The place celebrates its 100th anniversary this weekend. It is a triumph not so much of age as of an idea.

The idea -- kept alive through two pastors and touching on five decades -- is to open the parish's arms to people who live on the city's toughest streets. Countless inner-city churches closed or relocated to the suburbs. Meanwhile, Resurrection Lutheran Church grew from an outpost into an oasis (See the story at video.buffalonews.com).
