Private Agencies More Efficient Than the Government

Summary


The demonstration of private resources versus government interventions is highly regarded with the recent "Extreme Makeover" of a Buffalo home. Private wherewithal is a more efficient means to assist in blight, because the restrictions are almost non-existent. As with any assistance provided to people, government has most always proven ineffective in helping urban blight, cutting through the red tape and putting the money where it is needed most.

Unfortunately, the overriding belief is that government has always intruded in our lives free from philanthropy. Most people would be surprised to know that social welfare associations in the United States were private organizations that used private funds to intervene with the child welfare and the criminal justice system without the interference of government.
