George A. Scherer of Amherst, a retired postal clerk and World War II veteran, died Saturday in Buffalo Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 93.
The Buffalo native graduated from Seneca Vocational High School, where he was a member of the 1933 city championship track team. He won silver and bronze medals in races commemorating Buffalo's 1932 centennial, and remembered running in the 1933 Turkey Trot, the nation's oldest continuous road race.See the full content of this document
