1. Hobbled by illness and injuries, the Buffalo Sabres went down to their first regulation loss in eight games Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. Tonight they go to Boston's TD Garden to take on another high-flying opponent -- the Northeast Division-leading Bruins (7, MSG, 550 AM). The Sabres have one more road game Saturday night before returning to HSBC Arena to start a four-game home stand Sunday.

2. The University at Buffalo Bulls men's team represents the Big Four's last hope in post-season basketball play tonight in Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland (7, 1230 AM). Their opponent in this quarterfinal round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament -- top- seeded Kent State. As far as the Bulls are concerned, the Golden Flashes are far from invincible. Both teams won at home in their two meetings this season.
