Stage Fright

Summary

The chill of fall is in the air, and with it comes a spate of spooky productions that will occupy local stages through Halloween. As Neal Radice's spectral musical, "The Ghost of Fort Niagara," wraps up its run this weekend at Alleyway Theatre, Alt Theatre is preparing to open its own frightful show, "Ravings: Two Trios of Terror."

The show, which opens at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Alt's space at 255 Great Arrow Ave., is a reincarnation of a project conceived in 1986 by artist and performer David Butler. That year, Butler staged three stories by Edgar Allan Poe ("The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Cask of Amontillado" and "The Mask of the Red Death") with the help of composer David Kane. The project was revived twice, in 1988 and 1998.
