Summary
Sugarland is a pop-rock band masquerading as a country act. Nothing wrong with that. The same concept has worked for so many others. And judging from the large -- though it didn't appear to be quite capacity-sized -- crowd at Darien Lake's PAC on Friday, that formula is working once again. The fact that Sugarland is about as country as Def Leppard is not enough of a reason to deny the urge to don your tightest clothes and a straw cowboy hat come a Friday night.
The band, still in the midst of its "Incredible Machines" tour, tore it up Friday, even if its set list was basically the same one it has been performing for nearly two years now. The assembled seemed to be there solely for the purpose of cheering on singer Jennifer Nettles as she tore her (always nasal but always in tune and passionate) way through the band's big mildly Southern- inflected pop hits.See the full content of this document
