The state's top judge warned Monday that the new state budget will force cuts in everything from judicial hearings to jury expenditures as well as "significant" layoffs throughout the court system.

In a webcast to court employees across the state, New York State Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman said courts are facing an "unprecedented impact" by a $170 million cut in state funding that was part of the 2011 budget approved by lawmakers last week.
