U.S. Aids Libyans in Search for Stolen Anti-Aircraft Weaponry

A State Department official said Thursday a U.S. arms expert and several private weapons disposal contractors are working with Libyan officials to hunt for sensitive mobile anti-aircraft systems amid reports that massive arms caches in Tripoli were looted after the ouster of the Gadhafi regime.

Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said reports of unguarded and emptied weapons depots in Tripoli were "concerning." The Associated Press and other news media reported that crates of Russian-built anti-aircraft missiles and other munitions have been looted.
