The Williamsville Central School District needs to eliminate an estimated $5.5 million from next year's budget to make ends meet, so Superintendent Scott Martzloff introduced $10.9 million in potential district cuts Tuesday that read like catalog of schoolhouse nightmares.

Almost everything was on the table, including eliminating snack purchases for meetings, replacing paper towels with hand dryers in the bathrooms and limiting conference travel. But it was the big- ticket instructional items that clearly troubled School Board members and stakeholders sitting out in the audience.
