High winds -- plus continuing morning cold fronts -- have sent anglers to alternate options and outings this past week. When open, Great Lakes waters go on a heavy roll. The beauty of fishing in Western New York has to be the abundance of inland lakes anglers have as options when things aren't so great on the big lake.

On Monday, Bob Hauser and I tried to head out of Cattaraugus Creek in search of perch abundant on Lake Erie. Rick Miller at his Irving bait shop cautioned that it might be rough out there. He was right.
