As darkness closes in and November days get shorter, we bustle around, preparing for winter. Like the squirrels, I'm tucking things away, covering up my treasures, feeling a sense of urgency. Harsh days are coming soon.

I feel some sadness, seeing most of the perennials turn brown after the killing frost last week. Even the blue monkshood flowers are starting to fade.
