Summary
Stefan Petranek, a photographer and assistant professor at the Heron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, grew up in the outdoors. His rural South Carolina roots had him savoring nature and the science hidden within it. His work, currently on display at CEPA Gallery's Underground as part of this year's Beyond/In WNY biennial, looks intimately at the relationship between man and nature, using intricate lighting techniques to disguise and refocus our attention to that which we can't, or won't, see every day.
